During a classroom demonstration at Bayonne High School, I hypnotized three students, then—while they were still in the state of hypnosis—I asked them whether they thought they were hypnotized. I like to do this during my demonstrations to give the class and the volunteers the opportunity to realize that, although a person is deeply hypnotized, he/she can feel as though they are awake or not hypnotized. Its interesting to see how people rationalize their behavior while hypnotized. Some people dont even realize they are hypnotized. For those studying hypnosis: Why do you suppose this happens?
